1. Hotel Select
Coming to Romania I was astonished by how many historical buildings there were. Buildings from another era fascinate me quite much, so when searching for hotels for our three-week road trip I was mostly opting for hotels which had this old-world charm and would take me back in time - Hotel Select did just that. What once was the Neuscotz Palace, houses today a beautiful hotel in the very centre of Iasi, near the pedestrian main street. Due to its close proximity to all the good attractions, you can easily see some of the most famous ones from a walkable distance.
Built in the 19th century, this building once belonged to the banker Iacob Neuscotz. Although having survived decades and centuries, this four-star hotel did such a fabulous job in retaining the old-world atmosphere combined with a touch of modernism. The first experience while entering the lobby was where my shoulders fell into place, and I could feel a wave of comfort soothing me – that was when I saw the grand marble staircase leading to the upper floors – it was indeed giving me a Titanic spirit. We had the pleasure of staying in a rather spacious double room which was arranged with carefully selected furniture. This hotel is by far one of the best in Iasi and should be on your where-to-stay-in-Iasi-list.
Beautiful hotel! Will have to check it out some day.
